The Svalbard Expedition Course is intended for individuals looking to take a leap into Arctic and Antarctic expeditions, or for those who wants to gain more confidence in winter camping and skiing. Whether it is your first winter trip or one in many, there will be different challenges for different levels of experience. We will practice a variety of skills needed for a winter expeditions, and ski from 15-20 kilometres per day. Focusing on learning and building your own experience, as well as having a good time with likeminded people in the outdoors is the main goal for this trip.
From Adventdalen we will follow glaciers Møysalbreen, Rugaasfonna and Bergmesterbreen towards the valley Reindalen, through Tverdalen then Bolterdalen. This however may be subject to some modifications depending on the current weather conditions. We will make our own camp every night. You will learn how to pitch the tent and secure the camp for wind and polar bears, as well as pick up on tips and tricks for increased expedition comfort.

Who can join?
Anyone who is curious and eager to learn, and in moderatley good shape. We will be skiing between 15 and 20 km per day and temperatures might get as low as -25 Celsius. We are happy to talk to you about any questions or special requirements.
Guides
The Expedition Course is guided by a professional Arctic Nature Guide. The guide has extensive knowledge about the polar regions and arctic travel. Should the group size exceed 8 participants there will be 2 guides.
Insurance
As with other travels it is a good idea to have your insurance in order. Make sure your insurance cover the types of activities we will be doing.

Day 1
Everyone arrives in Longyearbyen within 31st of March. After everyone has checked into their hotels and gotten sorted, we will meet and begin packing! Preparations are important in any expedition and the packing will be thorough and educational. In the evening those that want to have dinner together.
Day 2
We spend the morning finishing up our preparations before we are transported to the end of the Adventdalen where our trip will begin. We will ski towards the glacier Møysalbreen. The area we travel in is protected by law from snowmobiles, so we can enjoy the nature and the scenic mountains in peace and quiet. In the early evening we will make camp. Day 3
After having enjoyed breakfast in the tent, our day begins. We continue our journey onto Møysalbreen glacier. We will practice glacier travel, taking turns navigating. We will focus on skiing technique if it is needed. We will have a lunch break and enjoy the silence and the beautiful sights in the nature that surrounds us. Day 4
The day starts with our normal routines. These will get more familiar and automatic by now. We will continue skiing on Drønbreen and Bergmesterbreen glacier, and into Reindalen. We focus on finding a good rythm to our skiing and continue taking turns navigating. We make camp in Reindalen, here we might spot reindeer and polar foxes.
Day 5
Today we will continue skiing down Reindalen. This is the biggest valleys on Svalbard, slowly travelling through this immense landscape is a special experience. We will take a detour onto Marthabreen glacier to explore a melt water channel. We make camp in the evening, again focusing on good camp routines and properly securing the camp.
Day 6
Today we will ski from Reindalen into Tverdalen. Tverdalen is a smaller side valley of Reindalen. Here we will focus on safe travel in avanlanche terrain. In the end of Tverdalen we can again explore melt water channels and the glacier. We will camp near Bolterskaret, a special place with steep mountains surronding us.
