8 days of hiking in magnificent landscape
Do you want to experience Svalbard in late summer? Its glaciers, vast valleys and mountains awaits you! Join us for a hike off the beaten path as we cross Nordenskiöld Land from East to West.
This is a hike of medium difficulty, where you will experience, beautiful scenery, wildlife and untouched nature.
Dates: 10-17 August
Who can join?
This is a trip that requires good physical condition. We will hike 10-15 kilometeres per day. We will sleep in tents and carry all our equipment. Our backpacks will weight around 15-20 kilos, but will get lighter each day.

Arival in Longyearbyen
After everyone has checked into their hotel we will meet and begin packing. During the evening we will go through all our equipment and test it, before we pack our backpacks and get ready for the next day.
Day 1-2
We will drive into Bjørndalen, from here we continue on foot! This is a lovely valley where both reindeer and arctic foxes reside. Perhaps we will spot them both! We will ascend the mountain plateu ahead of us and continue towards the abandoned mining town Grumant. Here we will make out first camp, with the most beautiful view of the entire Isfjord! From here we will continue towards Cole
Day 3-4-5
From Istjørndalen we continue to Grøndalspasset. Here we are surronded by beautiful mountains and moraines. Onwards we continue to Grøndalen, Skardalspasset and to Gleditchfonna, our first glacier. Here we will put on crampons and and continue onto Baalsrudbreen and into Grønfjorddalen.
Day 6-7
Now we will really experience the glaciers! We will ascend more than 300 meters during the day, as we walk on the glaciers that are pressed between the mountains. We will have a steep desend ahead of us, but we take it easy. From here we enter Orus dalen and continue to Isfjordflya, a long and flat last leg of our hike. Day 8
We continue to Isfjord Radio. From where we will travel back to Longyearbyen by boat. This takes fro 1-2 hours depending on the weather conditions.
